Pope Francis, who visited Ecuador in 2015, will return to this South American country to participate in the international Eucharistic Congress scheduled for Quito in 2024, Ecuadorian Minister of Foreign Affairs Manuel Mejia announced on Tuesday April 20.
“Extraordinary news: Pope Francis will return to Ecuador, thanks to the fact that Quito will be the seat of the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress (IEC),”

The sovereign pontiff has chosen the Ecuadorian capital for this meeting scheduled for 2024, which
"normally lasts a week"
before ending with a mass, led by the Pope or a representative he designates, according to the Ecuadorian Episcopal Conference (EEC) . The 84-year-old Argentine pope visited Ecuador in 2015 on a South American tour that also included Bolivia and Paraguay.
