The second largest Swiss banking group is about to turn a page in its history.
For the first time, a non-Helvetic has been chosen to succeed President Urs Rohner who, after ten years of reign, is due to step down at the April general assembly.
While various names circulated to succeed him, including that of Philipp Hildebrand, former head of the Swiss National Bank, it was on the Portuguese Antonio Horta-Osorio, until then boss of the British Lloyds, that the nomination committee made his choice.
An international, and a pure banker, also a first for twenty years for the Swiss group.
The current chairman is a lawyer by training and previously headed ProSiebenSat.1 Media.
