Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo has overtaken his Argentine counterpart, Lionel Messi, as the highest paid player.
The list of the highest-earning football players in the world this season, published by the American magazine Forbes, witnessed the outperformance of Ronaldo, the Manchester United player, over all his peers around the world.
Ronaldo's total profits amounted to 125 million US dollars, surpassing his historical rival Messi, the former Barcelona star and the current Paris Saint-Germain, whose annual profits amounted to 110 million dollars.
And in third place was the Brazilian star Neymar, the Saint-Germain player, whose profits amounted to 95 million dollars, clearly superior to Frenchman Kylian Mbappe, his colleague in the ranks of the Parisian team, which ranked fourth, whose annual profits amounted to 43 million dollars.
And the Egyptian international star Mohamed Salah, the top scorer of the Liverpool team, came in fifth, with annual profits of 41 million dollars.
