These results, presented on Thursday, suggest that healthier diets during pregnancy are associated with better overall development scores at preschool age.

“The nutritional recommendations for pregnant women are designed to promote the health of the mother and the fetus

, explains Blandine de Lauzon-Guillain, researcher at Inserm and lead author of the study.

But we weren't sure of their specific effect on the baby's neurological development because that aspect of things has been little studied."
