In footage shot by Sky Sports, several people are seen shoving or laying hands on Olsen as they pass by him.

Escorted by a steward, the Swedish goalkeeper first holds the back of his head, then his face before being accompanied to the locker room tunnel.

Manchester City apologized

The new champion of England apologized to him.

"Manchester City would like to offer their sincere apologies to Aston Villa goalkeeper Robin Olsen who was assaulted after the final whistle in today's match when supporters invaded the pitch," wrote the club in a press release.

"The club have immediately launched an investigation and, once identified, the individual will be permanently banned from the stadium," Manchester City added.

The third incident in a few days

This incident is the third in a few days in England.

On Thursday, Crystal Palace's French coach Patrick Vieira kicked to trip an Everton fan who had insulted him and flipped him the middle finger.

Two days before, a Nottingham Forest supporter headbutted Sheffield United player Billy Sharp on the pitch.

The individual was quickly identified and was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison.
