Passengers at Frankfurt Airport (June 10): Many problems in air traffic

The problems in air traffic do not stop: Early Wednesday morning, technical problems at German air traffic control restricted air traffic over large parts of Germany.
The reason was a software problem when installing an update in the Langen control center, as a spokeswoman for the federal institution explained.
The fault could therefore be repaired in the morning.
Normal operations should be possible again from 9 a.m., the spokeswoman said.
In the meantime it was only possible to fly to a limited extent.
The Center Langen controls the lower airspace in central Germany with important airports such as Düsseldorf, Cologne and Frankfurt.
The area extends from Kassel to Lake Constance and from the French border to Thuringia.
Overflights are not affected because they are monitored by controllers in the Center Karlsruhe.
According to the Frankfurt airport operator Fraport, the entire European airspace is affected by the disruption.
There are also delays in operations and isolated flight cancellations at Frankfurt Airport, Fraport said.
Passengers should allow sufficient time for their arrival and be at the check-in desk as early as possible before departure.
In addition, it is recommended to check the flight status in advance.
In the past few weeks, the lack of staff at airports in Germany and other countries has led to chaos in passenger handling.
The three Federal Ministers responsible for transport, the interior and labour, Volker Wissing (FDP), Nancy Faeser (SPD) and Hubertus Heil (SPD), want to present measures to remedy the situation in the short term on Wednesday.
