General Biotechnology Company (BTG) does not wait for legislation to guarantee paternity leave for fathers and encourages its employees in the process of building a family: the company offers every employee full financing of adoption processes, surrogacy, IVF and, in addition, 26 weeks of fully paid maternity leave for mothers and fathers.

These are unprecedented grants, which can reach hundreds of thousands of shekels per employee, designed to encourage the creation of families.

BTG is a pharmaceutical development and production center, fully owned by the Swiss company Ferring.

The company, located in the Be'er Tovia industrial area, near Kiryat Malachi, develops and manufactures, among other things, hormones for fertility treatments.

Over 40% of Ferring products are products in the field of gynecology and fertility.

BTG employs about 350 employees, of which over 60% are academics, of which 25% have advanced degrees, and 10% have doctorates or higher.

The unique program was launched at the beginning of July this year and already a number of fathers have applied to exercise their entitlement to maternity leave and there are workers who have started clarifying adoption and surrogacy processes.

These employees actually receive full funding, at the company's expense, to carry out adoption or surrogacy processes in any country they choose.

Eligibility is given to each and every one of the company's employees.

From the first day of an employee's work in the company, he is entitled to enjoy the extraordinary benefits.

The fully funded maternity leave for half a year can be used up to two years after the birth, according to the employee's choice.

In the case where two spouses work in the company - each of them can enjoy 26 weeks of maternity leave, so that in practice their babies will have a whole year in which one of their parents will be at home with them.

"Be at home with the children"

Efrat Sion, the company's VP of Human Resources

said: "Employees are at the center of attention of the company's management and it is important for us to maintain a value agenda out of a genuine desire to accompany our employees in the most important moments of their lives.

Ferring, our parent company, helps people all over the world to start families and decided to run a family support program for all company employees in 40 countries around the world, including Israel.

The message of the unique program is: invest in building your family, be at home with the children.

It is clear to us that satisfied employees are an asset to the organization and it is important for us to be there for our employees, in places where they need assistance and support."

"Raise my children in peace"

Elad Chen, who works in the supply chain at BTG

, is one of the fathers who have already announced that they would like to exercise their entitlement to maternity leave.

According to him: "The need to balance work and home is present all the time and sometimes creates a lot of tension. On the one hand, I want to contribute the best of my abilities and time to the success of the company, on the other hand, I always remind myself that I am here to provide for my family.

When I learned about the maternity leave benefit for six months, Even for my father, I was shocked. I still can't believe it... The ability to be at home for six months in a row, with financial peace, to experience the early childhood period to the end and raise my children comfortably is a dream come true. After all, we could have received a large gift or financial benefit, but At BTG, they knew how to give us the most valuable thing of all - time."

"Not giving up on my dreams"

Mor Pels, who works in the company's production department

, says that this benefit allows him to be both 100% father and 100% professional at work.

"I'm not giving up on my dreams - both a full-time father and a full-time process manager. Fortunately, at BTG you can do both and it's really not obvious."

It is important to note that beyond the cost of maternity leave, training replacement workers for six months is complex, mainly due to the company's field of activity - development and production of medicines and medical treatments, and also for this the company prepares ahead of time and recruits workers that will be their role.

Ferring, the parent company of BTG, makes sure to test the level of employee satisfaction with high frequency through Gallup company satisfaction surveys that are carried out in the company once every few months.

BTG's high results indicate a high sense of connection and commitment of the company's employees to the organization.
