An Iranian diplomat sentenced in February in Belgium to twenty years in prison for a planned attack in France in 2018 against opponents of the Tehran regime withdrew his appeal on Wednesday, May 5, making his conviction final.

The lawyer for Mr. (Assadollah) Assadi withdrew his appeal,
" Eric Van Duyse, spokesperson for the Belgian federal prosecution, responsible for terrorism, told AFP. Only the three alleged accomplices of the diplomat, sentenced on February 4 in Antwerp to terms of 15 to 18 years, will be tried on appeal in the Flemish city.
