In France, the breath of fresh air on building permits is real, but misleading

Even before the Covid crisis, developers pointed out the difficulty of obtaining this precious sesame which allows them to launch the marketing of their real estate programs.
Since the beginning of the year, we have seen an improvement.
In the second quarter of 2022, the number of permits obtained increased by 10.2%, to 128,000 units,
"a level more observed since 2019"
, according to the Federation of Real Estate Developers (FPI).
However, this good news is far from reassuring professionals in the sector.
"It's an epiphenomenon",
tackles even Pascal Boulanger, the president of the FPI.
Promoter sales data gives an idea of the problems.
Over three months, from April to June, reservations collapsed by 24.3%.
And over six months, the decline reached 21.4%, to just over 63,000 homes.
