Protests against the health pass: what to expect this Saturday?

2021-07-30T10:06:47.663Z

Several demonstrations are still planned in the four corners of France, this Saturday, against the sanitary pass, the extension of which has been validated.

Opposition to the health pass continues to mobilize.

And, despite the summer holidays, we can still expect new gatherings all over France this Saturday.

It must be said that the situation has evolved further on the subject, in just one week.

The law on its extension was adopted by Parliament on the evening of last Sunday.

Then, this Wednesday, the government spokesperson, Gabriel Attal, announced the date of entry into force of the law, from August 9th.

According to social networks, demonstrations are being organized in several cities in France, for the third consecutive week.

Several hundred people have said on Facebook that they want to participate in rallies this Saturday in La Rochelle, Beauvais or even Grenoble.

As reported by Le Télégramme, a demonstration is also declared in Lannion "for the defense (of) social rights and (of) freedoms", from 10 am.

The rally will be followed by a parade, subject to authorization by the prefecture, specifies the daily.

In Nice, two meetings are planned, reports Nice-Matin, in which the notoriously anti-ax singer Francis Lalanne should be.

Events are also planned in Strasbourg and Metz.

Restrictions imposed

In Toulouse, if gatherings could still take place, undeclared demonstrations are prohibited in the hypercentre, reports Le Journal toulousain.

According to the prefect, calls to gather this Sunday in front of the town hall and the prefecture were notably recorded, raising fears of intrusion attempts.

In Lyon, after two Saturdays of mobilization, the prefecture also decided to supervise the movement, in particular by prohibiting access to several sectors, including part of the Presqu'île.

The Lyon Rébellion group - which is not the organizer but the relay, according to Lyon Capitale - therefore calls, on Facebook, to meet at Place Carnot.

In all, demonstrations are planned in more than 150 cities, with an attendance which should be particularly important in Toulon, Montpellier, Bordeaux, Marseille, Nice, Metz, Nantes and Pau.

At least four demonstrations have been declared in Paris, we learned from a police source.

The first will leave from Place du Palais-Royal at noon to arrive at Place Pierre-Laroque, another will leave Place Joachim du Bellay at 2 p.m. to arrive at Place du Palais-Royal at the end of the day.

Another, called "anti-pass demonstration" will leave at 2 pm in the direction of Bastille (without the place of departure having been specified).

And a last, responding in particular to the call of the Patriots of Florian Philippot, will leave Montparnasse at 2:30 pm.

Others are also planned in the Paris region.

Several regional Facebook groups bringing together health anti-pass (in particular "Resistance anti-pass") call for a unique gathering in Paris and even organize carpooling to leave the four corners of France and join the ranks of the mobilizations planned in the capital.

More than 150,000 demonstrators are expected across the country, including more than 10,000 in Paris, according to the authorities.

Last Saturday, the Interior Ministry counted 11,000 demonstrators in Paris - down from 18,000 people on July 17 - and 161,000 people across France.
