PSG-Angers: away from the field for a year, Bernat is finally making his comeback

If Sergio Ramos still appears in the medical press releases published by PSG, this is no longer the case for Juan Bernat.

And for good reason, the 28-year-old left side, victim of a cruciate ligament rupture in September 2020, has been training normally with the rest of the team for several weeks, to such an extent that Mauricio Pochettino intends to summon him for the reception d'Angers, this Friday at the Parc des Princes, opening day 10 of Ligue 1.

“He's fine, Pochettino told a press conference on Thursday,“ he's been training normally for a fortnight. There are possibilities that he is with us. This time it's the right one. Bernat is back, which is a small event all the same, especially since on the eve of facing Rennes, just before the truce, the Parisian coach was much more careful.

Questioned, already, on a return of the Spanish international (11 games, 1 goal), Pochettino then indicated that “firstly, we need the medical green light and then that he is in the best position to play in competition, this that we do not think ”.

The medical green light has fallen.

And, if it seems hypothetical that he starts the match this Friday, just the fact of seeing him finally sit on a Ligue 1 bench, would send positive signals on his return to competition.

A valuable high level experience

Juan Bernat is not registered for the group stage of the Champions League, so he will not be present on Tuesday against Leipzig. However, Paris does not lack solutions to the position of left side (Mendes, Diallo, Kurzawa), which has also enabled it so far not to precipitate the return of Bernat.
