PSG tells Neymar that they don't want him

Advised by Mbappé, who demands a new disciplinary order, the Paris club agreed with the Brazilian's father that they would look for a club to transfer or transfer him

The ruling princes of Qatar made Neymar Júnior the most expensive player in football history when they signed him to their club, Paris Saint-Germain, for a €222 million payment to Barcelona, in the summer of 2017. The week Last week, a representative of the Paris club contacted the player's father to inform him that they wanted to find a way out for him.

It was announced by Radio Montecarlo and confirmed to this newspaper by a person close to Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of PSG.

The same sources indicate that the decision took shape when the owners of PSG renewed Kylian Mbappé, making him the reference of their project and giving him a voice in the design of the new sporting order.

Mbappé demanded changes in the organization and pointed to the removal of the former sports director, Leonardo de Araujo, famous accomplice of Neymar.

Regarding Neymar, the Frenchman pointed out the inconvenience of what everyone already knew: his systematic indiscipline in the training and recovery routine.

Mbappé warned the same thing that Mauricio Pochettino, the coach, pointed out since last Christmas: "No player should be above the shield."

For five years, Al-Khelaifi reasoned that the fastest way to be competitive was to build an environment in which Neymar felt happy.

This policy led to what a Netflix documentary about the Brazilian star called "perfect chaos."

After repeated failures in the attempt to conquer the Champions League, the Qatari sheikhs have changed their guiding principles.

As Al-Khelaifi himself stated in Le Parisien last week: "We don't want more ostentation or more

bling-bling

, the castanets are over."

Until now, Neymar had been the axis of all strategies.

The Brazilian, who this season automatically renewed his contract until 2027, earns about 40 million euros net annually for all concepts, football and advertising, both for the club and for companies linked to Qatar's sovereign investment funds.

In the meeting that the PSG emissaries held with his father, who is also called Neymar and acts as a representative and factotum of the footballer's companies, they guaranteed that his son would collect until the last penny they owed him.

Subscription through the foundation

Neymar's father, they observe in the club, was understanding as long as they pay him what is stipulated by contract between June 2022 and June 2027, a sum that is around 200 million euros net.

PSG are looking for a buying club to take on the transfer and the costs of the contract, but since this seems impossible, as Al-Khelaifi officials indicate, the most realistic option is to carry out a loan.

Faced with this possibility, PSG informed Neymar's father that he would be willing to pay the part of the salary that the destination club did not assume, and that he would make the income through his foundation, the Neymar Júnior Institute.

This company, domiciled in São Paulo, is sponsored, among other companies, by Qatar Airways.

They say at PSG that Luis Campos, the new sports director, has taken responsibility for the decision at the request of the club's owners, but that the matter is completely beyond him.

Neymar has told his trusted people at PSG that he feels humiliated and that he hopes to have the chance to play for a big club — he dreams of returning to Barcelona — to prove his Qatari bosses wrong.

At 30 years old, and with five months to go before the World Cup in Qatar, the footballer experiences the predicament as a challenge and tells his friends that he has now set out to win the Ballon d'Or away from PSG.

“Neymar doesn't like to train;

he has played with three or four extra kilos for years ”, indicate a source close to the PSG board;

“But in the competition he has been the team's most honorable attacker, the one who has run the most to offer himself and to defend”.

That when it has been available.

Until last January, Neymar participated in 130 games of the total of 245 that PSG played since he signed him in 2017. This season the Brazilian played 28 games and missed 22, between sanctions, injuries and various licenses.

This Monday Nice announced the termination of the contract that linked him to Christophe Gaultier.

Gaultier, who worked under Campos at Lille, is the first candidate to replace Mauricio Pochettino on the PSG bench.
