Released on July 22, “Bigard magazine” featured “200 jokes” by comedian Jean-Marie Bigard, photos of naked women embellished with gritty comments… and pirated snapshots of naked actress Jennifer Lawrence. It is for these last photos that the newspaper was condemned this Thursday, by the summary judge of the judicial court of Nanterre, to pay 20,000 euros to the American actress of 31 years, star of "X-Men", "Hunger games ”or“ Passengers ”. The judge justified his decision by the "moral prejudice suffered (by Jennifer Lawrence) as a result of the violation of her privacy and of the right she has over her image".

As indicated in the order issued, "the only element of reduction of the damage is due to the modest distribution of the magazine": the company Medialyd, publisher of the latter, indeed declared to have sold only 2561 copies of this newspaper. 'about sixty pages at € 4.90.

“Bigard magazine” is a special issue of the erotic magazine “King”, on the cover of which Lola Marois, the wife of Jean-Marie Bigard, posed naked in July 2020 under the title “Lola Marois, First Lady of France”.

Stolen intimate photos

The five photos of Jennifer Lawrence had been hacked by an American hacker in the summer of 2014. Edward Majerczyk had broken into celebrities' computers and cellphones through iCloud accounts and uploaded dozens of intimate photos of stars ( from Jennifer Lawrence to Rihanna, including Kim Kardashian, Kirsten Dunst, Kate Bosworth or Mary-Kate Olsen). In January 2017, Majerczyk was sentenced for these facts to nine months in prison. In an interview, Jennifer Lawrence had explained that the photos of her naked were intended for a boyfriend who then lived away from her.

"The high amount of the compensation allocated testifies to the indignation aroused by this publication and should dissuade all those who would be tempted to reproduce these stolen images", confided to us this Thursday evening Master Vincent Tolédano, the lawyer of the actress.
