+++ Update +++

Five wins in a row at a World Cup?

This is a novelty for the DEB team!

So on Tuesday morning there will be a duel against Switzerland for the group win.

The Söderholm squad made things unnecessarily exciting against Kazakhstan, who are the only team not to have scored a point at this year's World Cup.

Especially in the second third, Ehliz and Co. had the opponent completely under control.

But the outsider came back with the goal shortly before the break.

In the end, the German success is completely okay.

3RD THIRD

60 minutes: Phew, that was exciting!

But in the end, the DEB team takes the narrow lead over time!

58 minutes:

Oh my goodness!

Ehliz can decide the thing with the empty net goal, but he puts the puck on the post.

How emblematic of the DEB team's game...

57 minutes:

Monster save Shutov!

Ehliz fails at the Kazakh keeper, who once again proves his outstanding form at this World Cup.

Germany is really making things more exciting here than it needs to be.

56 minutes:

Reichel has a huge chance of making the preliminary decision, but Shutov saves against the Chicago Blackhawks youngster with more luck than sense.

55 minutes:

Kazakhstan is now pushing for the equaliser, of course!

The DEB team is still defending well.

Still...

52 minutes:

The hot final phase has begun!

Can the DEB team save the narrow lead over time?

Or will the Kazakhs actually manage to equalize here?

46 minutes: GOOOOOOOOOR!

There she is again, the lead for the DEB team.

Ehliz tried to finish, the puck fell right back in front of his runners and he scored to make it 5:4!

45 minutes:

It all went pretty quickly here with the equaliser.

Of course, that gave Kazakhstan a boost, and there is little to see from the sovereign appearance of the DEB team from the first and second third.

42 minutes:

Goal!

The compensation!

Is that bitter for the DEB team, which actually acted so confidently and now gambled away a two-goal lead.

Now Germany has to be careful that they don't fall behind as well...

41 minutes:

Let's go to the final third in Helsinki!

Can Germany defend the narrow lead over Kazakhstan?

2ND THIRD

40 minutes:

Now the second third is over.

Short break!

39 minutes: Goal!

That can not be true!

Germany is acting so confidently and calmly here, but a small change mistake is punished immediately!

Shortly before the end of the second period Kazakhstan shortened to 4:3.

Now it's getting exciting again.

38 minutes:

Two minutes left in the second third for the DEB team, which just came out unscathed from being outnumbered.

Germany is acting with a lot of self-confidence here.

35th minute:

Kazakhstan survive being outnumbered without conceding a goal.

But shortly afterwards there are the next two minutes...

33 minutes:

Next penalty for the Kazakhs!

Germany outnumbered again for two minutes.

In the power play, the Söderholm squad is really really strong at this World Cup.

30 minutes:

It's actually only a matter of time before Germany make it 5-2.

The DEB team keeps pushing for the next hit.

26 minutes: GOOOOOOOR!

There it sounds!

Reichel is played free and then deflects the puck into the goal to make it 4:2!

25 minutes:

The DEB team survives being outnumbered unscathed and now has a double power play!

Five against three for 42 seconds - something could work, right?!

22 minutes:

First penalty of the game.

There are two minutes against the DEB team.

Ehliz has to go to the penalty box because of a cross check.

21 minutes:

Let's continue in Helsinki!

The second third has begun - Germany continues to lead 3:2.

1ST THIRD

20 minutes:

Break in Helsinki!

The DEB team deservedly leads 3:2.

18 minutes: GOOOOOOOR!

This is the lead!

Daniel Fischbuch was the quickest to react and scored a rebound in the Kazakh goal - Germany's first lead!

17 minutes: GOOOOOOR!

Pföderl responded immediately and equalized again 34 seconds after the lead for Kazakhstan!

How spectacular is that here in Helsinki?

That was really important!

16 minutes: Goal!

Out of nowhere!

Pethukov shocks the DEB team and scores to give the outsider a 2-1 lead.

14th minute:

Another five minutes in the first third - and the DEB team has a hand in this game.

Kazakhstan can hardly free itself from the pressure of the Germans.

Only the goal for the lead is still missing for the DEB runner cracks.

10 minutes:

The DEB team didn't let themselves be shocked by the Kazakhs' early lead and immediately fought back.

Now the Söderholm team is in the game and already had one or two chances to make it 2-1.

There would have been a lot to gain, especially in terms of counterattacks.

The goal shot statistics are also clear - 6:1!

3 minutes: Goal!

Then it rings in the DEB box!

Starchenko scores for the Kazakhs, Strahlmeier is defeated.

2 minutes:

There is a change in the DEB gate.

Dustin Strahlmeier is on the ice for the first time at this World Cup.

And the goalie has to prove himself right away.

1 minute: Let's go in Helsinki!

Update from May 22, 3:17 p.m .:

The DEB team is of course the clear favorite in the game.

It's about to start!

Update from May 22, 3:12 p.m .:

The opponent from Kazakhstan is particularly strong.

However, there's a problem on the defensive.

It's not without reason that they're currently in last place in Group A. Let's hope it stays that way after the game..

Update from May 22, 2:32 p.m .:

It starts in less than an hour, then the puck flies over the ice again!

As already mentioned, the DEB team is qualified for the quarter-finals of the World Cup, but for coach Toni Söderholm it is still about important points for a good starting position in the group.

After all, you want to avoid the big chunks.

First report from May 22nd:

Munich - thanks to Denmark!

After the 9:4 win over Italy on Friday, the DEB team is already firmly in the quarter-finals of the Ice Hockey World Championships in Finland.

The Scandinavians defeated France, which is why Germany can now book the ticket.

Nevertheless, the DEB team wants to score important points against Kazakhstan on Sunday and against Switzerland on Tuesday.

Because Toni Söderholm's team wants to avoid the big chunk in the quarter-finals.

In the round of eight, however, an NHL star is no longer available.

Söderholm seemed eaten.

The national coach obviously did not agree with the decision to withdraw Tim Stützle, who had injured his knee, from the World Cup in Finland at an early stage.

"I'm not commenting on that," said Söderholm.

He assumed that the NHL youngster could still have played.

Stützle's premature World Cup exit was announced by the DEB on Sunday after consultation with the medical department and its NHL club Ottawa Senators.

The Senators, who do not want to take any risks with their striker with a view to the coming season, are likely to have had the last word in the talks.

The 20-year-old had shone in 79 games with the Sens this season, scoring 22 goals and providing 36 assists.

DEB sports director Christian Künast therefore commented on the decision much more reservedly than Söderholm: "Tim would not be spared by the opponent in the upcoming games, and his health comes first.

It is therefore logical and consistent to take this precautionary measure.”

Bitter for the DEB team - and bitter for Stützle.
