Third medal in Tokyo: Gold for Dolgofiat!
Pure gold: the medal of Dolgofiat, and also of Shtilov
There are not many athletes in the Olympic cycle who have been among the top three in the world and have maintained stability.
Artium Dolgofiat is one such, and the medal was an official stamp of his achievements.
Equally responsible for the team is Alex Shtilov, who bounced the gymnastics industry by 100 levels, educating Dolgofiat all the way to gold

One of the most exciting images in the history of Israeli sports. In the middle of Artium Dolgofiat who immigrated to Israel from Ukraine. To his right is coach Sergei Weisburg, a veteran immigrant who raised Dolgofiat and Alex Shtilov. To his left is the physiotherapist Adam Badir, an Arab-Israeli who has been an integral part of this wonderful team for years and is the one in charge of treating the body of Dolgofiat, who has known very unpleasant injuries. They all hold the flag by force, Badir is the first to digest the magnitude of the achievement and the only one who cries even more than the Spanish gymnast Zapata. They all left behind the corona, the terrible tension we went through here in Operation The Guardian of the Walls, the prejudices, religion and testimonies - looking at the camera and not believing that they are the ones who entered the history books of the State of Israel, not just Israeli sports.

What a champion mentality.

2. From the heyday of Alex Shtilov, there is talk that an Olympic medal in one of the three core disciplines (gymnastics / athletics / swimming) is more prestigious than a medal in a small industry.
I do not really agree with that.
It is impossible to argue with the fact that gymnastics equipment receives much more media exposure all over the world and that there are many more gymnastics equipment from sailing or windsurfers in the world.
On the other hand, an athlete does not become bigger just because of the industry, but because of his dominance precisely during the Olympics, those 4 or 5 years between the Olympics.
In this case, there are not many Israeli Olympic medalists who have been so dominant in combining world and European championships as Dolgofiat.
The new Israeli Olympic champion - yes, it's still weird to get used to the idea - won two silver medals at the World Championships alongside a gold medal at the European Championships (along with two more silver medals).
Maybe he did not win a medal, but his trainee.

The only other Israeli medalist to do such a thing was Gal Friedman (who won three medals at the World Championships, including one of gold), and he is also the one everyone expected not only a medal, but an Olympic gold medal. Yael Arad also won two medals at the World Championships, but the second came after her historic victory in the Israeli Olympic medal. Michael Kalganov has twice won a world championship, but at a distance that was not then Olympic. Lee Korzic won the World Cup three times before the 2012 London Games, and if not for the medical reasons that left her without an Olympic medal - she would probably have won an Olympic medal and even a gold medal.
In the end, what characterizes the two Israeli Olympic champions is the fact that they knew they belonged to at least the top 3 of the world top at any given moment, and this is what is called gold medal material.
Sometimes there is more luck and sometimes less (as in the case of Alex Shtilov in Beijing and London), but in the end there are not many Israeli athletes who in their Olympic cycle were among the top 3 in the world and maintained stability.

Precisely because of this, Dolgofiat's achievement reminds me of the added value that sports scientists cannot really explore, and that is belief. You may be a kid practicing in a particular industry and dreaming of becoming a champion as you see on TV, but your chances of getting there will be greater if you take a closer look at how champions are really created. Dolgofiat received the greatest gift as a child who went to practice instrumental gymnastics. Grow up next to a true champion and see how he gets to the top of the top, to places no one believed could be reached in such a small country and industry without too much tradition. Dolgofiat is the one who received from Shtilov what Shachar Tzobari, Nimrod Moshiach and Lee Korzitz received from Magal Friedman and Amit Inbar - and even unnecessarily close.
If it were possible to buy shares of the gymnastics clubs in the country, I would call the bank even before Dolgofiat took the podium, because there is no better opportunity than this to make this wonderful sport of Israeli Israeli as well.
