Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed during a telephone conversation today with his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro bilateral cooperation between Russia and Venezuela in various fields and ways to combat the coronavirus.
The Kremlin said in a statement today that the two sides affirmed their determination to "continue close coordination in international affairs based on the principles of strategic partnership on which relations between the two countries are based," noting that "issues of Russian-Venezuelan cooperation and the progress of implementation of joint projects in the fields of trade, economy, energy and others were discussed." .
The statement added, "The importance of continuing cooperation in combating the spread of coronavirus infection was emphasized, including the supply of Russian vaccines to Venezuela."
Putin emphasized Russia's support "for the efforts of the Venezuelan authorities to consolidate sovereignty and ensure the country's social and economic development."
The two presidents agreed to intensify contacts between Russia and Venezuela at various levels.
