Russian President Vladimir Putin inaugurated today in Bratsk, Irkutsk Province, Russia, a production line for vaccines against the Coronavirus.
"Building the capabilities of the national pharmaceutical industry is vital and important for the country and for the citizens, especially at the present time," RIA Novosti quoted Putin as saying during the opening ceremony, stressing that people need these drugs daily.
Putin expressed his appreciation to the Russian company for its role in replacing imported medicines with national ones, stressing that the Russian government will continue to support the high-tech pharmaceutical industry.
"The development of such high-tech industries means new jobs, the demand for promising technologies, the strengthening of Russia's position and growth points in Russia's provinces, and of course we will continue to provide support for such projects," he said.
Putin stressed the need to continue to provide comfortable and stable conditions for the business sector and investors who are active in the pharmaceutical industry.
Russia is the first country in the world to register an anti-Coronavirus vaccine, and there are two vaccines at the moment that have been registered in the country. The first is “Sputnik v” and is developed by the Gamali Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, and the second is called “Ipivac Corona” and the Victor Governmental Research Center for Virus and Biotechnology works on it.
