Putin to Muratov, 'you don't violate the law, the Nobel is not a shield'

(ANSA) - MOSCOW, OCTOBER 13 - Vladimir Putin declared that the Nobel for Peace assigned to the director of Novaya Gazeta, Dmitri Muratov, does not protect the journalist from being branded as a "foreign agent" if he were to violate the law.

"If he doesn't violate Russian law and if he doesn't give reason to be declared a foreign agent, he won't be," Putin said.

But the Russian president also warned the reporter not to try to hide behind the Nobel Prize "using it as a shield" to violate Russian law and "draw attention to himself".
