Since the beginning of January, the team at the new care base in Starnberg has been offering free support for matters relating to care: the employees Annette Schubert (left) and Henrike Pott as well as manager Marcus Effertz (2nd from left) with District Administrator Stefan Frey (2nd from right) and head of the social affairs department, Friedrich Büttner.

The starting signal for the first care base in the district has fallen.

In the future, those in need of care and relatives will be able to get professional and free support at Moosstraße 18b.

District – The father or wife suffers a stroke, is in need of care overnight, and you don't know what to do yourself.

"Most of them only deal with the topic of care when someone in the immediate vicinity is affected," said District Administrator Stefan Frey yesterday morning at a press conference to present the new care base.

“Often everything has to happen very quickly.

With the new advisory service, the citizens should be caught up and they should be helped.”

At the end of November, the sponsors involved laid the foundation stone for the base, AOK Director Maximilan Georg, District President Josef Mederer and District Administrator Frey signed the contract in the district office.

The goal of the new facility: to focus more on care.

"Around 14,000 citizens in the district are over 80 years old," says Frey.

"The topic is becoming more and more important." The district administrator was all the more pleased that the base was able to open around a month later, at the beginning of January, on the fourth floor of the building at Moosstraße 18b.

The social core of the district office has been housed there for a few weeks now, with advice for pensioners and debtors, the specialist department for senior citizens and the officer for the disabled.

Professional employees advise those in need of care and their relatives

Marcus Effertz (54) is in charge of the new care base. “We have hired the right man in him. He has many years of experience," said Friedrich Büttner, head of the social affairs department in the district office. In addition to working as a nurse, Effertz was also active in business. With his employees Annette Schubert (51), social insurance clerk and care advisor, and Henrike Pott (31), who has completed a dual nursing degree, Effertz has professional support at his side. "It was important to us to create a central, comprehensive, independent and free contact point in the district," said Effertz. Anyone who has questions about care can contact the support center on z (0 81 51) 1 48 77 73 or by email (pflegestuetzpunkt@lra-starnberg.de).

"After an initial telephone conversation, we either make an appointment in the rooms on Moosstrasse or we come to visit those seeking help and get an overview," explained Effertz.

The employees of the counseling center provide support when making applications or when looking for nursing services and places in institutions.

Depending on the need, they help the citizens more or less.

“However, we are not a service provider.

We don't come by and help with the washing or cooking," Effertz clarified.

District wants to create care place exchange

The nursing base is intended to connect the 33 outpatient nursing services, 14 nursing homes and five intensive care facilities in the district and promote exchange.

"The aim is also to create a nursing place exchange," said Büttner.

However, the cooperation of the institutions is urgently needed for this.

“Unfortunately, only unreliable free places are reported at the moment.

However, we hope that this will change.”

The care base, which costs the district around 35,000 euros a year, has already helped around 15 citizens.

"Most asked for information about old people's homes, nursing services or meals on wheels," said Effertz.

"The experience of other districts shows that the base is becoming more and more popular over time." lf
