Berlusconi in Rome, the race heats up. Parties work on Draghi but Casini check, Mattarella remains bis. Listen to the PODCAST © ANSA

Tomorrow Silvio Berlusconi will be in Rome to attend a center-right summit and everyone expects him to dissolve the reservation on his name.

If this happens, a new political phase could open on the eve of the first vote of the electors scheduled for Monday at 3 pm The decision of the Roman meeting was taken after a three-way phone call with Matteo Salvini and Giorgia Meloni who in all probability will have pressed the Knight to speed up the times.

Meanwhile, three names persistently circulate among the parties: Mario Draghi, Pierferdinando Casini and Sergio Mattarella. Strictly in that order. Three names that lead to three different schemes, all very complicated to make. Above all, two of these roads hold open the main problem of the survival of the government and one, that of Casini al Colle, of how Mario Draghi who finds himself at the helm of an emergency executive, that is not his own, could react.

The day started early in the morning with a meeting between the secretary of the Pd Enrico Letta and Matteo Renzi.

Much more talkative was the leader of Italy alive who said he was sure that Italy will have a president as early as Thursday or Friday at the latest.

That is, at the first or second vote with an absolute majority.

Renzi assured that if Mario Draghi goes up to the Quirinale, an institutional figure will be needed to lead a government that will be orphaned by the charisma of the former governor of the ECB.

Listen to "Renzi: Thursday we will have a president, Draghi in pole position" on Spreaker.

Draghi remains in pole position but in the balance: in fact, despite being tried by internal discussions, the Five stars begin to think seriously about the Draghi option and even the League seems less granitic in its opposition but no one knows how to solve the puzzle of the future government. The second scheme is further back and remains hidden: to bring to the Quirinale a figure who, while not liking too much, does not bump anyone. So here comes the silence in which the name of Pierferdinado Casini, a true centrist who has sailed in his long parliamentary career in almost all waters, has fallen.

The third scheme, never abandoned for months, is that of not changing anything: Bis by Mattarella and Draghi to finish his job in the government, perhaps with a reshuffle.

Solution that appeals to the five stars but not only.

Sergio Mattarella's repeated denial remains: but if everyone asked him, could he say no?
