The center-left, still divided, remains very cautious and tries to remove the many obstacles that exist in Mario Draghi's journey from Palazzo Chigi al Colle.

The center-right is as if suspended in the fog waiting for Silvio Berlusconi's decision that no one knows when and if it will arrive.

So much so that the expected center-right summit has not yet been convened.

However, the time for choices is approaching - there are only five days left until the first vote of the electors for the choice of the new President of the Republic - but confusion reigns among the political forces and tactics are still keeping the positions of the two sides apart.

Listen "The race has started but for now the contenders are studying (by Fabrizio Finzi)" on Spreaker.

The political forces are all awaiting the decision of Silvio Berlusconi who does not seem to want to give up and continues to consult data and numbers.

But the impression is that even in the center-right the conviction is now acquired that the Cavaliere will not be their candidate and both Matteo Salvini and Giorgia Meloni let it be understood that they already have an alternative name in mind to launch for the race to the Quirinale.

Which?

On the name the cards remain covered but it seems clear that Berlusconi, should he ever withdraw from the race, would have a sort of pre-emption right on the choice of the candidate of his side.

On the other hand, the center left has met today to take stock: but also from this side no concrete step forward.

Enrico Letta, Giuseppe Conte and Roberto Speranza remain buttoned up.

"There is no agreement on the names because we will talk about them with the center-right in the coming days", explained the secretary of the Democratic Party, confirming the willingness to share the choice of an authoritative candidate with a large majority.

The only option that would allow the government to survive.

Clear evidence of the stomach aches that torment the Five stars is the clarification that came out of the top after the three-way meeting this morning: for the Quirinale the M5s is still pushing to find an alternative name to that of Mario Draghi, in order to to remain prime minister at Palazzo Chigi, confirmed sources who have the need to keep the Grillini parliamentary groups united.

Meanwhile, Conte also spoke at length with Luigi Di Maio, whom many continue to identify as his competitor for the leadership of the Movement.

Draghi's name is always placed very high in the Quirinale bag but it is hot matter.

The Democratic Party is afraid of burning it by anticipating his candidacy.

Yesterday the premier was particularly active by meeting first the president Sergio Mattarella, and then the president of the Chamber Roberto Fico in Montecitorio.

Immediate parliamentary rumors that read this interview, which was to remain confidential, like a poll by the premier on the holding of the world of the Five Stars.
