During his speech to the National Assembly this Thursday morning, Prime Minister Jean Castex referred to the scientific council's opinion on the maintenance of regional and departmental elections on June 13 and 20.
While the deputies are called upon to debate and then vote on the new health measures, on the basis of article 50-1 of the Constitution which does not engage the responsibility of the government, Jean Castex confirmed that the same device will be used to determine the fate of the next elections.

from the scientific council as to a possible postponement, Jean Castex affirmed that "
only pressing health reasons likely to compromise the organization of the campaign or the poll could justify (it) .

improve the health situation at the end of June.

Before a new debate in Parliament on the issue, the Prime Minister will initiate "

" a consultation of the political parties represented in Parliament as well as associations of local elected officials.
