Damascus-SANA

A long time of fatigue and effort in reflecting ideas on paintings and sculptures at other times culminated in the opening of the artist Abdel Jamil Qasha for his art exhibition this evening at Zawaya Gallery in Damascus.

The exhibition, which included twenty-eight pieces of art, varied between paintings of a purely expressive nature, some colored, others in black and white, and some sculptures tending to abstract color, in addition to some experiments with Arabic calligraphy.

In his speech to Sana, Qasha referred to the main element of the exhibition, which is the “doll”, which began as an idea since he was in his third year of university at the Faculty of Fine Arts, which prompted him to make art and then to search the way to reach the artistic output, indicating that the idea becomes a formal thing when starting work.

With regard to the ideas of his paintings and their source, Qasha indicated that they are derived from reality, and the ideas are closely related to the artist’s culture, as they balance the work force, as he sees that reading along with the artist’s talent and practice, in addition to the need to be patient and calm, gives him the clearest vision in obtaining the artwork with the greatest amount of money Precision.

As for the diversity of colors contained in the paintings, he ascribed the reason to the difference in the idea and the tools it required. Sometimes, in his sense of expression, he needed colors for expression, and at other times, lead might suffice what is required.

Qasha pointed out that he was influenced by the plastic artist Marwan Kassab Bachi, describing him as the artistic bridge between the East and Europe and the international artists Soutine and Kokoshka.

It is noteworthy that the artist Qasha's exhibition at Zawaya Gallery will continue until the 30th of this month.
