Protests and road blocks resumed in some Lebanese regions today, especially in Beirut, Tripoli and Sidon, due to the continued deterioration of the economic and living conditions in the country.

The Traffic Control Room reported that this morning, protesters blocked some roads in Beirut with waste containers, obstacles and stones, as well as cutting off traffic on the Zouk Expressway towards Beirut, while the Minieh Highway cut off in both directions.

Protesters threw car oil on the ground at the Sports City point, Salim Salam, to prevent cars from passing in case the security forces opened the road, while blocking the road in separate areas in central Beirut, near Al-Amin Mosque, at Adliya, and in other separate areas.

In Tripoli, protesters blocked roads in some of the main and secondary streets with burning tires, waste containers and stones, in addition to parking some cars and trucks in the middle of the roads, in conjunction with the heavy deployment of the Lebanese army, and protesters blocked a number of roads in the city of Sidon in the south.

The protests began in Lebanon in October 2019, due to the deteriorating economic and living conditions, the rise in prices, and the demand to combat corruption and hold the corrupt accountable.
