Jewish organizations claimed this evening (Monday) that, despite being promised, Qatar will not allow the sale or offer of cooked kosher food to visitors to the World Cup.
Also, sources told the "Jerusalem Post" newspaper that Qatar broke another promise, to allow Jewish prayer services in Doha during the games, claiming that it could not secure this type of activity and banned it completely.
"We were promised that they would allow us to create prayer spaces so that religious Jews who came to see the games would have a place of worship," said a representative of a Jewish organization.
"Recently we were told that they banned places of worship for Jews, because they cannot secure them."
According to an estimate, over 10,000 religious Jews from Israel and the world are expected to arrive in Doha.
"They were promised that they would be able to cook kosher food including kosher meat, but at the moment they were only allowed to sell cream bagel sandwiches," they said.
According to another source, several wealthy American Jews planned to come as a large group, but canceled their arrangements because they said they would not feel safe and did not have enough food to eat.
"There is no kosher food, no Shabbat meals and no prayer in public," said a source.
He added that the Qataris said that "they will separate religion from sports, so how is it that great Qatar does not know how to secure Jewish worshipers?"
