Report: Trump, Netanyahu and Ben Salman worked to weaken the status of the King of Jordan

The Washington Post reported that behind the arrest of the former regent two months ago are efforts to keep Abdullah away from Jerusalem, as part of an attempt to advance the "deal of the century."

Jordan's King Abdullah's status has deteriorated in recent years following pressure from the United States, Israel and Saudi Arabia over his opposition to Donald Trump's 'deal of the century', the Washington Post reported last night (Friday).

An article by senior journalist David Ignatius said pressure on the king erupted in public in April, when security forces arrested his half-brother and former heir to the throne, Prince Hamza, on suspicion of undermining regime stability, as well as a former minister close to Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman.

The former regent, who was ousted by Abdullah in favor of his son Hussein, was finally released and the family publicly stated that the crisis was behind them.

However, according to Ignatius, who is based on Jordanian, Israeli, Saudi, American and British sources, the pressure on the King of Jordan was real and was gradually built with the push of the "deal of the century" by Trump, Ben Salman and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

All this in order to weaken its influence on Jerusalem.
