A team of researchers from the Swiss CIES (International Center for Sports Studies) has set itself the task of predicting the final tables of the five largest leagues in the world (England, Spain, Germany, France and Italy).
Now the results are there.

The experts used a statistical model that mainly takes three factors into account: the experience of the players, the investments for transfer fees and the performance of the teams over the past 365 days.
So who will win the championship in the Bundesliga?
The answer to this question is still unsurprising: According to the model, FC Bayern * grabs its tenth championship in a row.

However, the first surprise awaits in second place: VfL Wolfsburg * is runner-up according to the CIES.
After all: The wolves are actually in second place after five match days.
BVB * and Bayer Leverkusen follow in third and fourth place, RB Leipzig has to be content with the Europa League.
The calculation defines the newcomers VfL Bochum and Greuther Fürth as relegated members.

In the other leagues, Real Madrid, Manchester City, PSG and Inter Milan are predicted to be champions.
FC Barcelona only made it to third place in La Liga.
The season will show whether the researchers have used their methods to decipher the “unpredictability” of football.
