In September, 64.5% of the population over 18 years of age in Mexico considered it unsafe to live in their city, according to data from the National Survey of Urban Public Safety of the Mexican National Institute of Statistics and Geography.

CNN took to the streets of some Mexican cities to learn the feelings of their residents and several said they had witnessed acts of violence.
