Ricky Rubio has signed this Friday his return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team in which he played last season before signing in February for the Indiana Pacers, which was his current team.
The Spanish point guard did not make his debut with the Pacers due to the serious knee injury he suffered on December 29 against the New Orleans Pelicans: a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, an illness he had already suffered in 2012 .
Rubio, who will be 32 years old when the next season begins, now signs a contract for 17.6 million euros that will be distributed over the next three seasons, as the journalist from Yahoo!
Chris Hayns.
For his return to Cleveland, the role of José Manuel Calderón, former Cavs player and advisor to the franchise's board since last January, when Rubio was still on the team before leaving for Indiana, has been key.
The point guard from El Masnou, who was injured when he was going through one of the best moments of his career —averaging 13 points and almost seven assists—, will miss the Eurobasket next September with Spain.
His return is expected to take place in the last quarter of the year, just at the start of the new NBA campaign.
