Unicef: Rich states should leave more vaccine doses to Covax initiative
4.30 a.m.:
According to the United Nations Children's Fund Unicef, rich states could provide the Covax initiative with more than 150 million vaccine doses without endangering their own vaccination programs. The seven leading industrialized nations (G7) and the EU could help close the global vaccination gap by giving 20 percent of their supplies for June, July and August to the Covax initiative for the worldwide distribution of corona vaccines, according to one Study by the British company Airfinity published on Monday by Unicef.
The rich countries could still continue their own vaccination programs as planned, emphasized Unicef director Henrietta Fore.
A G7 summit will take place in the UK in June.
Until then, the Covax program will be missing 190 million cans, according to Unicef.
This is due, among other things, to the dramatic corona situation in India, which should actually produce and export a large part of Covax cans, but now needs them for its own population.
Turkey eases restrictions after tough lockdown
4.10 a.m.:
Turkey is
loosening
the restrictions to contain the
corona virus
after a hard lockdown of almost three weeks.
People are allowed to leave the house again from Monday during the day, but there is a curfew in the evening from 9 p.m. local time.
At the end of April, the Turkish government imposed a 17-day lockdown in view of the high number of corona infections.
People were only allowed on the streets for valid reasons, such as shopping.
Shops that are not needed for daily needs had to close.
Exit restrictions now continue to apply at the weekend, and residents are only allowed to go out on the streets for urgent errands.
Cafes and restaurants will also remain closed for the time being and are only allowed to offer delivery services.
Shopping malls and clothing stores are reopening.
The Ministry of Education still wants to comment on possible school openings.
The regulations apply until June 1st.
Schleswig-Holstein opens up to tourists

A few days before Pentecost, Schleswig-Holstein will open to tourists on Monday under certain conditions.
In other areas, too, public life in the northern state is being ramped up again.
Bars are allowed to reopen their interiors, and excursion boats are allowed to take guests on board again.
The general manager of the hotel and restaurant association (Dehoga), Ingrid Hartges, called on the other countries to take the northern federal state as an example.
So far, overnight stays for tourists have only been possible in four model regions of Schleswig-Holstein.
The state has the lowest corona infection rate nationwide.
On Sunday evening, the Ministry of Health in Kiel gave the seven-day incidence per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days as 35.1.
For the openings, however, tourists have to meet hygiene requirements such as wearing protective masks in certain situations and negative corona tests before arrival and then every three days.
When visiting bars, a negative test result or proof of vaccination protection is required.
