Unlike passenger transport, freight transport has not suffered because of the pandemic.
On the contrary, the volumes transported by boat have seen very strong growth: + 27% in the first half of 2021 compared to the same period in 2019, before the pandemic;
+ 37% if we compare to the first half of 2020. Consequently, there are traffic jams in the ports: in Los Angeles, the waiting time before unloading the goods is two to three weeks.

What is the reason for this boom in maritime transport?
As consumers could no longer travel, go to the cinema or to a restaurant, they bought a lot of products (sofa, television, lawn mower, etc.).
