Unlike passenger transport, freight transport has not suffered because of the pandemic.

On the contrary, the volumes transported by boat have seen very strong growth: + 27% in the first half of 2021 compared to the same period in 2019, before the pandemic;

+ 37% if we compare to the first half of 2020. Consequently, there are traffic jams in the ports: in Los Angeles, the waiting time before unloading the goods is two to three weeks.

What is the reason for this boom in maritime transport?
