Tehran, SANA- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani today congratulated the Iranian people on electing a new president of the country from the first round

Tehran-Sana

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani today congratulated the Iranian people for electing a new president from the first round of the thirteenth presidential election, pointing out that since the official results have not been announced yet and in compliance with the law, it will delay the official congratulation.

Iranian media quoted Rouhani as saying in a televised speech: "I congratulate the people on their choice. I will extend my official congratulations later, but we know that enough votes were available in these elections, and there are those who were elected by the Iranian people."

In turn, presidential candidate Abdel Nasser Hemmati, in a statement, congratulated Ibrahim Raisi on his victory in the presidential elections, pointing out that the Iranian people are waiting for a life full of hope, stability and prosperity.

For his part, Mohsen Rezaei congratulated one of the presidential candidates (Raisi), saying in a statement issued this morning that "the June 18 elections proved once again to the eyes of observers and analysts in the world that the proud Iranian people will spare no effort to guard the Islamic Republic and enhance its power and security."

He also congratulated candidate Amir Hossein Qazizadeh Hashemi (Main) on winning the elections.

The Elections Committee of the Ministry of Interior did not issue any official figures on the election results, but the unofficial results received from various cities of the country indicate a clear progress by Raisi over the rest of the candidates.

Four candidates competed in the presidential elections, namely Ibrahim Raisi, Abdel Nasser Hemti, Amir Hussein Qazizadeh Hashemi and Mohsen Rezaei, after Saeed Jalili, Ali Reza Zakani and Mohsen Mehr Alizadeh withdrew.

It is noteworthy that the President of the Republic in Iran is elected by an absolute majority of the votes of the electorate, and in the event that this does not happen, the elections are held for a second time on Friday of the following week, with the participation of two candidates who won more votes than the rest.
