Rugby: Argentina with 14 players playing in France to challenge the Blues

2021-10-22T12:05:28.508Z

The Pumas coach has unveiled the players selected for the fall tour. Which will start on November 6 against the Blues at the Stade de France.

A solid list, with few new additions.

The coach Mario Ledesma has indeed retained only two novices in his list of 32 players selected for the tour of the Pumas in Europe next month.

They are Facundo Cordero (Santiago's brother) of the Exeter Chiefs and Ignacio Ruiz of the Jaguares XV.

For the rest, it's classic, in the continuity of the Rugby Championship since only three players disappear from the list: Toulouse center Santiago Chocobares, Perpignan third row Joaquin Oviedo and Scarlets flanker (Wales) Tomás Lezana.

In this list, the Pumas playing in France keep the spotlight since they are fourteen (12 in Top 14, 2 in Pro D2): Facundo Bosch (La Rochelle), Rodrigo Bruni (Vannes), Santiago Cordero and Guido Petti (Bordeaux -Bègles), Francisco Gomez Kodela (Lyon), Facundo Isa (Toulon), Marcos Kremer (Stade Français), Tomas Lavanini (Clermont), Juan Cruz Mallia (Toulouse), Lucas Mensa (Mont-de-Marsan), Jeronimo de la Fuente and Bautista Delguy (Perpignan), already present this summer.

Nicolas Sanchez and Tomás Cubelli back

They are joined by Biarritz scrum half Tomás Cubelli (79 caps), back from injury, and Nicolas Sanchez (90 caps), who injured his ankle during the Four Nations.

The Argentine opener, who has not yet played this season in the Top 14, is finally back and should even be on the bench at Stade Français Paris this Saturday to face the LOU.

The third row Pablo Matera (ex-Stade Français) and the right pillar Santiago Medrano, excluded from the group before the last match of the Rugby Championship against Australia for having broken the sanitary rules, are present in this group.

Pumas lost their six meetings in 2021

The Pumas will begin their tour against France on November 6 at the Stade de France, then travel to Treviso to face Italy on the 13, before challenging Ireland on November 21 at the Aviva Stadium. Argentines in full doubt since beaten six times out of six in 2021.

We tried to analyze what happened

(during the Rugby Championship, Editor's note)

to learn from it and see how we can be better

, said Pumas captain Julian Montoya.

We all want to win and we are doing everything to achieve it.

We hope that our efforts in training will be reflected on the pitch.

Our goal is clear: to have a successful tour to end the year well.

We must be demanding among ourselves to get the best out of each other and put the Pumas jersey back where it should be: as high as possible…
