The Italian energy company Eni announced that the Russian company, Gazprom, notified it in a statement of the impossibility of transporting gas to Italy via Austria today.
Sputnik quoted Eni as saying in a statement: “Gazprom stated that it cannot confirm the quantities of gas required for Italy today due to the impossibility of transporting gas through Austria, and therefore the flow of Russian gas destined for us through the Tarvisio checkpoint will be at zero.”
The Italian energy company added: It will provide new information if gas supplies are resumed.
It is noteworthy that Gazprom stopped pumping gas to many European countries against the backdrop of the sanctions imposed by the European Union on Russia, while the pumping of gas through the North Stream pipeline that transports gas to Germany through the Baltic Sea stopped last Monday, after an accidental leak occurred in the pipeline in the waters of Denmark near near Bornholm Island, which Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov described as "state terrorism", stressing that this cannot remain without a serious international investigation.
