Russia's Aslan Karatsev qualified for the quarter-finals of the Russian Kremlin Cup Tennis Championships after defeating Belarusian Igor Gerasimov in two straight sets.
Karatsev won the match in two sets, 6-4, 6-3, in one hour and 26 minutes.
In the next round, Karatsev will face Frenchman Gilles Simon, who in turn defeated American MacKenzie MacDonald, with two straight sets 6-3, 6-2.
In a second match, the Russian first seed Andrei Rublev was bid farewell to the tournament, losing to French Adrian Mannarino in two sets to one, with results 5-7, 7-6, 6-3.
