The Russian Federal Security Service announced the dismantling of a terrorist cell and the elimination of two of its members in Tyumen, the center of the country, which was planning to carry out terrorist attacks in crowded places in the region.
In a statement today, the agency indicated that its members were able, in a security operation, to uncover a cell of supporters of the terrorist organization “ISIS” in Tyumen, pointing out that “two armed men were neutralized as a result of the security operation.”
The statement explained that the terrorist cell "was including citizens of one of the Central Asian republics, and that its members planned, and on instructions from representatives of the international terrorist organization, to commit sabotage and terrorist acts in places where citizens gather."
The statement indicated that "during the implementation of an operation to arrest the leader of the gang and his partner in the outskirts of Tyumen, the two mentioned armed resistance to the security forces and were eliminated, while no one from the security forces and the local population was harmed."
During the search of the criminals' residence, the security forces found an explosive device, firearms, ammunition, communication devices and various publications.
