During a check on the A6, customs officials found three puppies in the hold of a minibus.

The conditions for the animals were catastrophic.

Wernberg-Köblitz – The customs officials certainly did not expect this find: During a routine traffic check on the A6 in Upper Palatinate, junction Wernberg-Ost, last weekend the officials found three puppies in the hold of a minibus.

The transport conditions for the young dogs quickly turned out to be catastrophic.

Customs finds puppies in a minibus: the vet sounds the alarm

As reported by

nordbayern.de

, the three puppies were in a much too small plastic box in the cargo hold of the vehicle that came from Romania.

Neither the driver nor the dog owner could show the necessary papers for the import.

There was also no evidence of vaccination protection for the young dogs, according to

nordbayern.de

, citing the police press release.

The officers then called a patrol, which in turn called a veterinarian.

This determined the catastrophic transport conditions of the puppies on site and arranged for them to be taken to a veterinary office.

Puppies now in care - quarantine, vaccination, mediation

The vet also found that the puppies were significantly younger than the driver and dog owner had previously indicated.

Now the dogs have to be quarantined for several weeks, after which they are vaccinated against rabies and can then be adopted.

The veterinary office in Schwandorf took over the care.
