Franziska Schlosser and Sandra Reiber from the Gündinger Budo department qualified for the South German EM of the FU18 in judo at the Bavarian Championships in Nuremberg.
But the week before the tournament on Sunday, September 26th in Kirchberg an der Murr turned out to be difficult. Both athletes complained of flu-like symptoms shortly after the first tournament, so optimal preparation for the upcoming competition was ruled out. Franziska Schlosser (up to 52 kg), who still achieved a sovereign fifth place in Nuremberg, had such a hard time that she canceled the tournament.
Sandra Reiber (third place at the Bavarian European Championships +78 kg) was no less badly hit. Fortunately, she was able to complete a light training session the day before the competition, during which, however, you could tell that she had just survived the illness.
Her result on the day of the competition was all the more surprising.
As the only yellow-orange belt among the predominantly blue and brown belts, it fought for third place.
This gives her the opportunity to fight for the German individual title in Leipzig.
