(ANSA) - MILAN, MAY 07 - On May 10, the public will return to the Scala to attend a show for the first time since October 22, albeit in reduced ranks: no more than 500 spectators will be distributed in the boxes and in the gallery to respect the enormous anticovid. The choir and house orchestra will perform. On the podium the musical director Riccardo Chailly. A way to welcome the spectators back. Not to celebrate the resumption of activities because this has never stopped with 35 evenings in streaming between opera, ballet and concerts.

It is also a symbolic restart. The day after (75 years after the concert directed by Arturo Toscanini who reopened the theater after the post-war reconstruction) in fact the performance will be broadcast from 12 in streaming on Raiplay and on the theater website and at 4.45 pm on Rai5 (with a repeat on May 27 at 9.15 pm) and at 8.30 pm on Radio3. It is no coincidence that on 11 to 11 in the theater a plaque will be discovered in memory of the mayor Antonio Greppi who strongly wanted the reconstruction of the bombed staircase.

As already desired by Toscanini for the 1946 concert, the music will not be preceded by any speech: the first words that the audience will hear will be those of the choirs "Patria oppressa" by Macbeth and "Va 'Pensiero" by Verdi's Nabucco. On the program, I will also include pieces by Henry Purcell,Stauss and Wagner.

The appointment marks the Scaligero debut of the 'Wagnerian' soprano Lise Davidsen. (HANDLE).
