Their stories crossed in an unusual way, in the midst of pain.
Due to an error that the Justice is now investigating, two families received the
wrong bodies
in the Gandulfo hospital morgue.
Everything was discovered after the burial of one of them.
"We watch, fire and bury another person," says
Clarín Camila, daughter of Romualdo Pérez, a 69-year-old retired bricklayer who had entered the hospital on Wednesday, May 5 with
bilateral
coronavirus
pneumonia
.
“They told us that they put him in a room with an oxygen mask.
From there we
lost contact with him
, we could only speak by message, but on Friday he stopped responding.
Every day they gave us a report at noon to inform us how it was evolving ”, details Camila.
The posters posted by the Pérez and Chávez family to demand the clarification of the case.
Everything got worse on Sunday at 3 in the morning.
“A doctor called and informed us that he had been intubated.
When we showed up at the hospital we were told that he was in the shockroom on duty in
critical condition
.
On Monday they told us the same thing and on Tuesday morning they told us that he had decompensated.
When we got to the hospital he had already died ”, he adds.
Pérez's family assures that they were not offered to recognize the body.
“We did the paperwork in the garage and the next day we asked to see the body and they told us it was too late.
By protocol we had to
fire him in a closed drawer
”, he adds.
On Thursday, after the funeral, they received a new call from the hospital.
“They told us that there was a mistake, that the body was not his and that we had to recognize another body.
They made us enter the morgue and we confirmed that it was him, ”adds Camila.
Francisco Chávez died in the Gandulfo hospital.
His body was given to another family by mistake.
At the door of the hospital, Pérez's family met the children of Francisco Chávez.
They were the ones who told him that the man had died and that when they entered to recognize the body they realized that it
was another person
.
It was the alarm that uncovered the unusual case.
The investigation fell to the UFI No. 8 of Lomas de Zamora, in charge of the prosecutor Jorge Grieco.
Judicial sources informed
Clarín
that the body that had been buried on Wednesday in the municipal cemetery by the Pérez family was that of Chávez.
This was confirmed by his children, who had to recognize the body that was
exhumed
by the Justice.

. We do not know if there was an error in the treatment. We want to know how he died and when he died. The death certificate was annulled and they have to make a new one. We want to bury him and begin the mourning accordingly," explains the daughter of Pérez.
