Two teenagers were shot, one of them fatally, while
waiting for their school bus
in Kentucky this Wednesday morning, according to local police.
The students were on a corner in the Russell neighborhood of Louisville around 6:30 a.m. (local time) when
someone in a moving vehicle opened fire
, according to the city police department.
One of the minors was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the other suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
A young woman was treated at the scene for injuries, although she was not shot, according to police.
Their names were not revealed.
Police said that other people who were at the bus stop at the time of the shooting were not injured.

Investigators have requested the images from security cameras in the area as they search for the perpetrator of the attack

Jefferson County Public Schools said the loss of a student is "
devastating
."
"All of our hearts are broken right now," said a school spokesperson.
