School transport: around 400,000 children risk being without a bus at the start of the school year

As schools reopen in less than a month, there is a shortage of around 8,000 school bus drivers across the country.

On September 1, the date of the start of the school year, students could miss the call, for lack of being able to join their establishment.

A shortage of bus drivers raises fears of great difficulty in taking children from primary schools, as well as middle and high school students.

The National Federation of Passenger Transport (FNTV), representative of companies in the sector, estimates that there is currently a shortage of 8,000 drivers to provide maximum service.

About 20% of the 2 million pupils transported every day in buses could thus suffer from it, that is to say 400,000 children and teenagers!
