Will Mick Schumacher stay in Formula 1?

According to his father's companion, Ross Brawn, he deserves to "take the next step in his career."

LONDON - There are few figures in Formula 1 who have done as successful a job as Ross Brawn.

The former technical director of Benetton and Ferrari was involved in all of Michael Schumacher's world championship titles, and Jenson Button also won the title under his leadership.

Today's Formula 1 sports director Brawn recently spoke in an interview about Schumi and his son Mick and assessed his current starting position.

This year he has "a really good reference" with Kevin Magnussen as a teammate, now Mick is "at an important crossroads in his career".

It is not yet clear whether or for which team the son of the seven-time world champion will drive in the premier class next year.

However, Brawn apparently wishes him one of the remaining cockpits in the Formula 1 team: “In any case, he deserves to take the next step in his career.

And that's what he will be measured against," the former Mercedes team boss knows.

Formula 1: Ross Brawn compares father and son: "Mick takes a little longer"

Like every companion of Michael Schumacher, Brawn also makes a comparison between father and son.

"He's different from his father, who was always on the limit straight away.

It takes Mick a little longer, but in the end he also won the titles in the junior classes,” states Brawn.

“He is very talented, has 100% inherited his father's work ethic and is extremely capable of improvement.

That is crucial.”

At Silverstone and Spielberg, the native of Switzerland scored points for the first time. He is currently 15th in the drivers' standings with twelve points.

Next up is the opportunity to up the ante at next weekend's Singapore Grand Prix.
