Sean Penn and his girlfriend Leila George decided to take the next step in their relationship and after four years of dating, they secretly married.
The actor confirmed the news Monday night with Seth Meyers and said he married his 28-year-old girlfriend last week with only a few people present.
"It was Thursday," Penn told Meyers after showing her ring. "We did a COVID wedding. By that I mean he was a county commissioner at Zoom and we were at the house, my two kids and his brother. And we did it that way," he said.
In the same way the news was released thanks to the wife of producer Mike Medavoy , Irena Ferris , resorted to his Instagram account to congratulate the couple.

Irena shared several photos that exposed the link of the Hollywood star, who is turning 60 this month, as he showed several images of the couple with their wedding rings. After publishing the evidence, the woman decided to delete it from her social profile.
"We are so happy that @leilageorge and #seanpenn get married. We love them. Thank you for being like a son to Mike, we are crazy that you found your soul mate," read Irena's post.
"True love changes the world for the better. They are meant to be together, God bless both of them and the family they have joined. We introduce the Penn couple," he added.

In one of the snapshots Ferris published you could see the couple's hands with their wedding rings.
This Saturday, Penn and Leila, who is younger than the actor for 31 years, also received a congratulatory message from actor Josh Brolin, with whom Penn shared credits on the movie "Milk."
"Happy wedding lovebirds. Our regards to a beautiful marriage. Sean and Leila," wrote Brolin through his Instagram Stories . Rosanna Arquette also wished the newlyweds the best in the comments section, where she wrote, "Wonderful. Love and light."
Sean Penn and Leila George started their romance in 2016, a year after the actor ended his relationship with actress Charlize Theron . The couple always kept their relationship out of the public eye, although they were sometimes seen strolling together in the company of one of Penn's sons.

It was in March of this year that the couple appeared together on the red carpet of a charity event that took place at the Los Angeles Zoo, to raise funds after the devastating wildfires that occurred in Australias.
For the 59-year-old actor it is his third marriage, since from 1985 to 1989 he was married to Madonna; Later he arrived at the altar with Robin Wright , with whom he was married from 1996 to 2010.

Leila is the daughter of actor and producer Vincent D'Onofrio , famous for her role in the television series "Law and Order". Her mother is actress Greta Scacchi , who is the same age as Sean Penn.
