Just before the resumption of studies: Teaching staff who flew abroad during the holiday will not be able to return to schools • According to the Ministry of Health, 2,908 teachers are currently in solitary confinement and another 165 teaching staff are active Corona patients • The Ministry of Education is trying to find substitutes

At the end of the Hanukkah holiday and return to school, a shortage of about 3,000 kindergarten teachers and teachers is expected in the Ministry of Education.

These are teaching staff who flew abroad during the holiday, and due to the isolation obligation will not come to school.

According to the Ministry of Health, there are 2,908 teachers in isolation and another 165 teaching staff active in Corona patients.

The Ministry of Education stated that they are preparing to replace deputies in educational institutions where the same teachers and kindergarten teachers work.

At the cabinet meeting today (Sunday), Education Minister Yifat Shasha Bitton requested that the isolation obligation for the vaccinated be abolished, in light of the factual infrastructure that has accumulated regarding Omicron.

As you may recall, last week the secretary general of the Teachers' Union, Yaffa Ben-David, also asked to exempt teachers who flew abroad from the obligation of isolation.

In a letter to Sarah Shasha Bitton, Ben-David noted that school principals argued that they did not have a solution to the many absences of teaching staff expected after the holiday.

According to her, "Even in the routine, there are not enough substitutes to replace the teaching staff who will be in isolation when they return from abroad."
