The global shortage of semiconductors has prevented the automotive group Stellantis, resulting from the merger of Peugeot-Citroën and Fiat-Chrysler, from producing 190,000 vehicles in the first quarter, announced Wednesday the second European manufacturer, which was forced as its competitors to temporarily shut down factories.

The group warns that the lack of microchips, manufactured mainly in Asia and subject to exceptional global demand, will continue and have a "
greater impact
" in the second quarter, before improving in the second half.
