The performance of serological tests is still insufficient to envisage mass screening of the French population. It is therefore not serious to use them to welcome your grandchildren or to organize a party with friends, without the risk of spreading the virus.

In France, the French National Authority for Health (HAS) has set a rule that tests are more than 98% specific, that is to say that they detect Sars-CoV-2 well and nothing else, such as a classic cold, for example, in 98 out of 100 cases. And they must be at least 90% sensitive to the coronavirus. These performances indicate that 2 people out of 100 could be “false positive” (announced in error as having been in contact with the disease) and one in ten would be a “false negative” (diagnosed as not having been contaminated, whereas it's the contrary).
