While the corona incidence continues to increase in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania due to the omicron variant of the corona virus, the situation in the hospitals is not that dynamic.

On Wednesday, the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lagus) reported a seven-day incidence that was 51.2 points higher, with 955.8 infected people per 100,000 inhabitants in one week.

Rostock – In the past 24 hours there have been 3280 new infections registered.

A week ago, the incidence was 608.4.

Nationwide, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants per week on Tuesday morning as 940.6.

In the hospitals in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the number of patients fell by 4 to 246. The situation also continued to ease in the intensive care units.

According to the state office, 63 Covid patients are currently being treated in intensive care, one less than the day before and 18 fewer than a week ago.

The seven-day incidence of hospitalizations remained at 6.6 on Wednesday.

Four people died in connection with a corona infection, bringing the total number of victims to 1,629 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Compared to the general population, the incidence in children and adolescents is significantly higher - with a very low number of hospital admissions.

According to the Lagus report for minors, the seven-day incidence in the age group from 0 to 17 years reached the value of 2297 on Wednesday. However, regionally, the incidence figures are in places well above the average.

Since the beginning of the year, however, only 19 children and adolescents have been hospitalized because of Covid-19.
