Israel's airstrikes killed at least 52 Palestinians in Gaza on Sunday, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
The figure represents an increase in what is already the deadliest day since the Israeli bombardment of Gaza began on Monday.
Since that day at least 3,100 rockets have been fired from
Gaza into Israel
, of which 1,210 were intercepted by the Iron Dome Air Defense System and 450 were unsuccessful launches, the Israel Defense Forces reported in a statement Sunday.
