After the Bayreuth Tigers and ESV Kaufbeuren had tested positive in their ranks, it was actually only a matter of time when other DEL 2 teams and thus also the Buam would get caught.
The starting point was of all things the glorious Sunday game against the Lausitzer Füchse.
The 7: 1 turned out to be a Pyrrhic victory in retrospect, because some guest players were tested because of slight symptoms at the beginning of the week - and found positive.
Break the chain of infection
At least the communication between the two clubs worked perfectly.
After the positive PCR tests from Weißwasser became known, Löwen managing director Christian Donbeck was informed and he immediately took action.
“We treated the matter very sensitively and passed the list of everyone involved in the Sunday game to the health department.
After all, it is our top priority to protect the health of our players and their families and of course to break the chain of infection. "
On Tuesday, everyone involved in the Sunday game was ordered individually for the PCR test.
The devastating result that Donbeck received from the Tölz health department on Thursday afternoon: “We have several positive players, too.
Since the health department sends the results to the players personally, there are other positive things to fear. ”The entire lion squad is now in quarantine at home until further notice.
The lions were finally in the rhythm
“It's a sad story,” says coach Kevin Gaudet.
Mainly because after the mixed preparation and the bumpy start to the season, the lions “finally got into a good rhythm”.
Gaudet, whose personal test turned out negative, fears for players, coaches and his own family.

The 25-year-old defender of Grizzlys Wolfsburg had tested positive, but remained almost symptom-free and returned to training operations after completing the quarantine.
